About this deal

But most importantly, in between the stories the book also brilliantly captures the essence of Jürgen Klopp's tremendous, larger-than-life, personality and the wisdom and intellect that match it. The charismatic manager played for the best part of 325 appearances for Mainz Club and scored 52 goals, then he became the manager for the same club Mainz 05 and secured Bundesliga promotions in 2004 before he was appointed manager of Liverpool in 2015, he won two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund, I'm glad that I had the chance to read about one of the greatest football managers in the world. He is the co-author of the football tactics book The Anatomy of the Modern Game, a graduate in business administration and is currently writing a doctoral thesis on sport economics. But its narrative, which zips along with the pace and confidence of Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, is both informative and generous with anecdotes. After reading more about his time at Mainz and Dortmund, it's hard not to feel like the success since was foretold (if simultaneously a little apprehensive about what the end of his time in England will be like).

Now, I know love is a strong word but even if he kills a puppy at this very instance, I bet every Mainz, Dortmund, and Liverpool supporter will still see him as a saint. I learnt a lot less about his time in Germany than I expected, and nor was there a lot of entertainment.this book offers a unique insite into the development of jurgen klopp as a person first and foremost. will be a fascinating year as to whether Liverpool can regain their oomph as neither Mainz nor Dortmund managed it after losing their mojo. Given that I support Liverpool, I may be a little bit biased but this is the first football related book that I have consumed so quickly and enjoyed immensely.

But for a reader not all that familiar with Klopp’s time at Mainz, the jumps back and forth were a bit disorientating. My personal view of Klopp is that he is a likeable, competent manager who escapes close scrutiny compared to other characters who have had similar results. This book relates to my hero’s journey because I learned that in life there will always be struggles and you will need to come up with different strategies to overcome them. If life would be judged at the end, and you stood at that door, and somebody asked you “Did you win something or not? One of my memories of this is the blonde haired fellow with Mainz, the celebrations of their promotion and surivival in the Bundesliga. The section on the type of player Klopp looked to sign was very interesting but I would have like more detail on why certain players were signed – what was it about Lewandawski that made Dortmund pull the trigger for example when he was overlooked by other clubs? The Monday Night Club discuss whether Jude Bellingham is England's best talent since Paul Gascoigne, after he was named best young player at Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony. She told German newspaper Der Spiegal that the book illustrated the "fascination of football" and "the longing for a distant hero world". Klopp, meanwhile, the big-smiling, perma-baseball-capped, witty and erudite club manager, is someone who even opposing fans – and those who have no interest in football – admire. He is an enigmatic character and has developed a type of play that seems to have worked at the club's he has managed.
