About this deal

The difference comes from those like Tamiya S, revel contacta, that work as solvents, dissolve The surfaces which are welded together as the solvent evaporates.

All these people mixing different chemicals together with no knowledge of what might happen worries me immensely.I personally prefer the Quick Setting version because the original sometimes takes too long to cure and therefore is prone to cause ghost seam lines if the model is assembled too quickly. The cement cuts the amount of time used in constructing models, and has the advantage of a cleaner finish. Wrap a layer or two around the cap, and you will be able to grip it and unscrew it without any effort. Limonene is a chemical added to change the smell to stop solvent abuse or remove the strong smell so its more friendly to children.

This glue is especially handy when securing the body of a model car to the 'bucket'/ engine compartment of the kit.the irritating odor in Tamiya glue creates acetone, because butyl acetate smells like pear, and has the colloquial name "pear essence". This thin glue is perfect for joining awkward model parts together quickly so you don't have to hold them together for ages, capillary action draws the thin glue into all the gaps and welds the parts together for a secure and solid fit. Mixed them and tried them firstly to join some plastic pipe and then to fix together some kit parts. Although it is a quick-setting cement, it still allows for some minor alignment corrections after the cement is applied.

This is due to the fact that the cement essentially melts the plastic and the parts fuse together once the chemicals evaporate. The original Extra Thin cement usually takes a couple of minutes to set and hours to days to completely cure. As you would probably expect, there are differences in the chemical compounds used to produce these two types of cement. The aim of this series of entries in your SMN Techniques Bank is to help anyone who wants to know more about the different types of glue out there and what they should, and can, be used for.The standard Tamiya Extra Thin can also be used as traditional cement because it takes longer to evaporate. Ok, so what follows are a series of short HD videos where I give you an overview of the range of glues and adhesives I use, followed by separate entries showing each one in a little more detail and how to use it. You can place the parts together first then just touch the supplied brush onto the join and hey presto, bonds in no time at all.Furthermore, the extra thin formula allows the modeler to glue together small pieces that require pin point accuracy and finesse. This quick setting solution dries around four times faster than the original Tamiya Extra Thin Cement, saving you plenty of time holding your parts in place! All you do is place the two parts together, and then dab a little bit of Extra Thin glue into the joint, and it works like magic, creating a strong bond without any mess. Ethyl acetate is hotter than butyl acetate when it comes to melting plastic and also evaporates much more quickly.
