For gigging, recording, and installed applications alike, your console can be subjected to a wide range of environmental conditions and hazards. Excessive humidity, unstable power supplies, and the rigors of road travel in general can take a serious toll on a mixing console, often causing expensive, time-consuming repairs, and reducing its lifespan. The MG Series has been redesigned with an emphasis on durability, incorporating practical features that offer greater flexibility while ensuring peak performance for many years to come. To resolve this issue, the Yamaha MG Series of analog mixers features simple, time-saving one-knob compressors. Simply twist a single rotary control and you can dial in livelier guitars, punchier basses, tighter drums, and well-defined vocals. EQ and highpass filter allow for effective sound-shaping High Quality Sound Op-amp - The head amp determines sound quality, and op-amp integrated circuits are one of the most important parts in the head amp circuit. MG Series mixers feature new, high-quality, custommade MG01 op-amps that we developed in cooperation with the semiconductor manufacturer. Although many other Op-amps prioritize electrical design and efficiency, we worked directly with the semiconductor manufacturer to focus on sound quality first. MG01 op-amps feature redesigned circuitry in which even the internal components and wiring have been optimized, and use materials such as high-quality silicon wafers and copper wire to achieve superb resolution.Works with the iPad (2 or later) through the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit / Lightning to USB Camera Adapter AUX / Effect Sends / Group - MG Series mixers feature up to AUX sends for expanding your sound reinforcement or recording setup, allowing you to incorporate additional effects, output to external recording devices, or feed to an monitoring system. Tips or comments about this product knob Compressors - Compression plays an essential role in just about any recording or sound reinforcement environment by altering the level of dynamics of an audio signal when you need livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare, or a cleaner vocal sound. However, it can take countless hours to master the complexities of even the most basic outboard compression units and use them effectively. Originally a Yamaha innovation, 1-knob compressors are now an industry standard that gives you instant access to optimized compression settings via a single rotary control. The new MG Series offers a comprehensive lineup of consoles suitable for a wide range of mixing environment. The versatile lineup includes variety of channel configurations, as well as models equipped with SPX effects processorsand USB audio interfacegeared towards live performance and recording, perfect for any application from monitor mixes to seminars to front of house sound reinforcement in smaller venues. The Yamaha MG06 is part of the third generation of renowned MG Series mixers. These compact mixing desksfocus on giving you high quality sound for a wide variety of mixing environments. The Yamaha MG06 has the same mic pre amps as their high-end pro mixers. The new MG Series provides serious quality with the reliability and performance capabilities the series is known for. When I bought my DAW I first used a cheap M-Audio interface that had no latency but didn't have a great mic pre-amp. I later upgraded to a Scarlett 18i20, and while it sounded better, it had HORRIBLE latency. No matter what I did it was nothing but trouble. I researched to no end and finally found an engineer to recommended using a mixer.Switchable Phantom Power & PAD Switch - With phantom power, MG Series consoles allow you to take full advantage of the greater frequency response and high sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channel with PAD switch accepts MIC to line level of inputs, PAD Switch attenuates high input signals that often accompany mic'ed instruments during performance, avoiding the clippingthat can seriously affect your mix. As is customary for Yamaha, the build quality is immaculate. The chassis is metal again, although the sides are still plastic. Still, it looks sturdy and a good compromise between weight and durability. As with the previous models, I have no doubt that it will serve for a long time. Whether you're tweaking your sound to perfection or whether you're removing some unwanted frequencies, effective and powerful EQ is necessary for building a successful mix. Featuring equalizers on all mono channels, the Yamaha MG Series mixing consoles provide you with ample control over the tonal balance of your mix. Additionally, a highpass filter allows you to get rid of any mud that might be present in your mix by eliminating unwanted low-frequency noise. Built-in SPX digital effects add polish and professionalism I’ve owned the Yamaha MG12XU for a few years. I bought it for live gigs and it’s great for that – the preamps, comps, eq’s, and effects are all decent for a mixer in this price range - but it’s also working out quite well in my home studio. LED level metering - Easy-to-read LED level metering allows output levels to be monitored with precision.

The new preamps sound definately better than the old ones. Also, the built-in DAC seems to be a quality one. Overall, the board sounds very good. Period. When was the last time you heard guitar without EQ or a completely unprocessed vocal on one of your favorite songs? Probably never. Yamaha mixers are famous for their flat response and sonic purity, but it often takes more than a perfectly-captured instrumental performance or vocal to achieve a professional-sounding mix. Equipped with some of the same state-of-the-art functionality featured on Yamaha's high-end consoles, the MG Series gives you the tools you need to produce high quality sound that is uniquely your own. a) Brand: Yamaha have always had a stellar reputation in the mixing desk department. A lot of pro engineers & gigging musicians swear by them. MG Series-The third generation of the acclaimed MG Series, these compact mixing consoles focus on delivering high quality sound for a diverse range of mixing environments. With the same mic preamps as our high-end professional mixers, the MG Series provides serious sound with the reliability and performance this series is renowned for. The features are plentiful: you get compression, effects, digital interface and a good sounding analogue EQ on a single 12-channel board. A few other mixers offer the one-knob compression, but I have not seen one that sounds so good. The effects are useable. Routing options are quite ample for aa mixer this size. The EQ sounds very nice, however it would be perfect if they would have added a sweepable mid band like on its bigger brothers. Setting up the digital interface with my iPad was effortless and only took a driver installation to work perfectly on a Win7 PC.MG Series mixers feature AUX sends for expanding your sound reinforcement or recording setup, allowing you to incorporate the internal, or external effects, output to external recording devices, or feed to a monitoring system. Master send controls are also provided. The MG12XU features two stereo group buses and outputs that can be used for convenient channel grouping. Assign switches for the stereo and group buses are located next to each channel fader. A variety of input / output connectors Nobody wants to hear mics that are plugged into thin, distorted, or underpowered preamps. MG Series mixing consoles employ Yamaha's transparent D-PRE preamps, which provide more power with lower impedance, delivering natural-sounding bass and smooth highs. D-PREs simply sound good - without hyping any specific elements of your mix. The D-PRE's pure sound will ensure that you won't need to spend hours EQ-ing just to get a barely-acceptable sound, like you would with low-quality mic preamps. One-knob compressors provide easy-to-use dynamics control Yamaha has always strived to provide sound engineers with the purest possible signal instead of added processing or color to give it a "signature" sound, and the MG Series is no exception. Embracing this philosophy of transparent sound, these mixing consoles deliver a level of sonic purity and sound quality that is unmatched in their class. A built-in SPX digital effects processor provides you with 24 high-quality effects that let you polish your sound when live or recording. The MG12UX is equipped with Yamaha’s critically-acclaimed SPX digital multi-effects processor that offers a wealth of editable digital effects that are perfect for enhancing your mix whether you’re adding depth to a speaker or putting colour on to a band’s performance. The impressive reverb and delay work to expand upon the spatial quality of your sound with excellent realism, you can even add an optional FC5 footswitch for on/off control over your effects.
