With The Secret Service it might be that I liked the movie more because Vaughn decides to take the premise of a gentleman spy movie and play it a bit more as a parody. Following the recent release of the Kingsman movie at the start of 2015 I decided to pick up the source material in the form of Millar/Gibbon's graphic novel. While Eggsy's street smarts give him several advantages in the three-years spy training, he's still ignorant in several social skills and common knowledge in real life, but good ol' Jack won't be too away for leading his nephew in the right path. There are enough differences from the film to make this an enjoyable read and as a stand alone I can only imagine it would be difficult to put down! Agitated into attacking others by a frequency sent out over their cell phone sim cards, Harry’s fighting skills are commandeered by the signal into taking the lives of numerous church parishioners. When Gary begins his training for Kingsman, he is immediately more suited for the task than his comic counterpart. The characterisation was completely lazy: Uncle Jack WAS James Bond, Gary was pitiful and dreary as the lead, and the rest of the cast were archetypes from the abusive boyfriend to the megalomaniacal boss. perhaps blame it on me only hearing of KINGSMAN from the film and not knowing the graphic novels existed till awhile afterwards. Matthew Vaughn stated that if a sequel were to be developed he would like to see the story about the first decade of the Kingsman agency with all characters that audience see at the end.In June 2018, Vaughn announced his new film studio along with several projects currently in development including a Statesman film; confirming that Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry would reprise their respective roles. But as a pastiche of all the Bond movies coupled with moves that makes Kick Ass look tame, then it is a must-read from me. But the best thing about the film is Colin Firth, who plays the gentleman spy Harry Hart (no longer Eggsy’s uncle but his father’s former colleague). Gary London is recruited by his uncle, Caractacus "Jack" London, to work for Kingsman, the British Secret Service. Now, that's not to say that the movie didn't follow some of the better scenes and/or ideas of Millar's book.
