This observation showed that honey could prevent bone fragility induced by oestrogen deficiency [ 84]. However, Tualang honey did not preserve lumbar calcium ash density in the study by Ibrahim et al. [ 85]. In fact, rats receiving 3 g/kg of honey possessed the lowest lumbar calcium ash density compared to the sham group [ 85]. This could have happened due to the dosage of honey that was rather high, leading to an induction of diabetes in the rats, which, in turn, promoted bone loss.
