Pappademas, Alex (April 2004). "Rhapsody in Blue". Spin. Vol.20, no.4. pp.87–88 . Retrieved November 16, 2015. One great tune. ("Buddy Holly".) A handful of other good tunes — good, not great. (The choruses of "No One Else" (alas); the opening guitars in "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here"; the choruses of "The Sweater Song", which I still never need to hear again; the verses of "Surf Wax America", which is harmless fun; the choruses of "Say It Ain't So"; the bass line of "Only in Dreams".) Boring singer. Flabby, tiresome, typically '90s guitar sound. Emotionally retarded lyrics, the kind written by former high school loners who probably deserved to be loners. (')Rhythm(') section that's barely even trying. Some truly obnoxious vocal harmonies. For what it's worth, the best Weezer album. Easily the best Weezer album. Karl's Corner – 01/22/2002". The numbers came in, and the national Soundscan showed… 90. 90 sales! 90?!? ‘Who the hell are these OTHER 45 people?’ we asked in disbelief. That meant across the country, 45 people just saw the Blue Album sitting there, and apropos of nothing, just bought it. List of Blue Album Accolades". Acclaimed Music. Archived from the original on September 5, 2017 . Retrieved February 5, 2007. First off, Blue Album is fantastic. One of my favorite albums of all-time. Secondly, I will admit that I did listen to this album once on one of those Crosley Cruiser turntables before I upgraded. That being said, I still don't think one play on that would've done damage to it. Like all Weezer albums - including their critically-acclaimed newest, Weezer (The White Album), released this spring - the songs on these vinyl reissues truly speak for themselves; chances are, you already know quite a lot of them, from Maladroit’s “Keep Fishin’” (whose video epically featured the band in an episode of The Muppet Show) to Weezer (The Red Album)’s “Pork and Beans” to Make Believe’s Aughts-defining anthem “Beverly Hills,” and more. These vinyl reissues serve as a brilliant refresher course for the story of band who are still making an indelible mark on music today. The more I listened to this the more I yearned for a change in my life, being born a decade earlier, experiencing the decade of music that was the 1990s first hand. It became this insane musical revelation that only built upon my love of 90s music, probably stemmed from Built to Spill's There's Nothing Wrong With Love. Now TNWWL was released in 1994. Same as this. On Last.fm I have a list of the best album every year since I was born. After 4 plays of Weezer's debut, TNWWL was toppled. This was a milestone in my musical appreciation.
